Rahim Tafazolli Avarwand (born 1957 in Abadan, Khuzestan Province, Iran) is a UK-based researcher, academic, and author of Iranian descent.[1] He is considered one of the leading figures in wireless communication technologies, particularly 5G, and has served as an advisor to various governments and industries worldwide.
Biography
[edit]Rahim Tafazolli was born in Abadan, but his parents originally came from the tribal regions of modern-day Bazoft in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province. After finishing high school in Iran, he moved to the United Kingdom in 1979 to continue his studies. He earned his PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. His passion and expertise in digital communication, especially cellular networks and the future of wireless technologies, have made him a prominent global voice in the field.[2]
Academic and Professional Career
[edit]Since 2010, Tafazolli has been active at ICS (Institute for Communication Systems), and since 2012 he has led the 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC). With over 25 years of experience in wireless communication R&D, he has played a crucial role in designing innovative solutions for smart digital infrastructure.
