Prasun Mukherjee (born 1957) is a distinguished Bengali singer, widely recognized for his soulful renditions of Rabindra Sangeet and his contributions to Indian playback music. Born in New Delhi, he pursued his early education in the city and graduated with top honors from Delhi University. He later completed his post-graduation in Indian Music from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.[1][2][3]

Biography

Mukherjee is the nephew of legendary singer Hemant Kumar[4], and while his early style echoed his uncle’s influence, he gradually developed a distinct musical identity. His voice is known for its depth, clarity, and emotional resonance, making him a beloved figure in both classical and contemporary Bengali music circles.

He also holds a doctorate in music therapy from the United States, reflecting his academic engagement with the healing power of music.[3]
