Oxylabs.io is a Lithuanian technology company that provides public web data collection tools and proxy infrastructure.[1][2][3] The company was founded in Tesonet accelerator[4], established by Tomas Okmanas and Eimantas Sabaliauskas.[5][6][7]

History
[edit]Oxylabs.io was established in 2015 as a provider of datacenter proxies.[12][13][14] The company expanded its product suite in 2017 with the launch of residential proxies and data acquisition service.[15][16]
In 2020, Oxylabs.io introduced a framework for ethical proxy sourcing and announced that its proxy pool had reached over 102 million IP addresses.[17] That same year, the company launched additional tools and APIs for web scraping.[18] In 2022, Oxylabs.io initiated Project 4β, aimed at supporting pro bono partnerships. It was also among the founding members of the Ethical Web Data Collection Initiative.[19] Oxylabs also was named a finalist in the Global Good Awards in the Technology for Good category for its work in empowering the public sector toward a cleaner internet,[20] and received the Baltic Sustainability Award in the Impact category.[21] The same year, the company was also included in the Financial Times list of Europe’s fastest-growing companies—a recognition it maintained in 2023 and 2024.[22][23][24]
In 2023, Oxylabs received the Data Breakthrough Award for “Data as a Service Company of the Year”,[25] was honored in the Volunteering Together Awards in the Business Contribution to Society category.[26] In 2024, Oxylabs launched OxyCopilot, an AI-powered assistant designed to help users build data scraping and parsing requests using natural language prompts.[27] In the same year, the company’s patent portfolio reached 100 patents.[28] The company was named “Most Community-Oriented Company of the Year” in the large companies category at the 2024 National Responsible Business Awards for its contributions to public safety, transparency, and support for nationally significant initiatives.[29] In 2025, Oxylabs’ AI-powered tool OxyCopilot was nominated in the Webby Awards in the “Apps and Software – Developer Tools” category[30] and won "Best Place to Work in Data & AI".[31]
In July of the same year, Oxylabs launched AI Studio, a suite of four AI-driven web scraping tools (AI‑Crawler, AI‑Scraper, Browser Agent, and AI‑Search) that let users extract data using natural‑language prompts, making web data collection accessible without coding.[32][33] Oxylabs proxy pool is sourced globally, including the US, UK, Germany, China, Canada, Japan, and others.[34][35]
Overview
[edit]Oxylabs provides products related to public web data collection and proxy services.[36][37][15][32] From 2019, the company also organizes an annual conference, OxyCon, focused on web scraping technologies.[38]
In 2022, Oxylabs launched Project 4β to provide technical support, know-how, and data free of charge to projects that benefit society.[39] Through its Project 4β initiative, Oxylabs supports journalists, academic institutions, governmental, and non-governmental organizations.[40] Through this pro bono project, the company has already collaborated with Bellingcat, Debunk.org, an organization dedicated to countering online disinformation and state-sponsored internet propaganda, Forbes, Confirmado, the Environmental Protection Department of Lithuania[41], Communications Regulatory Authority of Lithuania, Global Witness, The Pulitzer Center, International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), members from academic institutions, such as the University of Edinburgh, the University of Washington, the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University, Princeton University and others.[42][43]
