Biography

[edit]

Otello Cenci was born in Rimini in 1971 and graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Bologna in 1996. From a very young age, he was passionate about cinema and theater, and he began training in acting under Roberto Abbiati. He later studied the mimetic method developed by Orazio Costa Giovangigli, under the guidance of Vittorio Pettoni Possenti. At the age of 19, he joined the Teatro dell’Arca company in Forlì, with which he performed in several productions based on the works of William Shakespeare and Carlo Goldoni, such as The Merry Wives of Windsor, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Taming of the Shrew, and The Venetian Twins. In these projects, he collaborated with prominent figures such as Franco Branciaroli, an experience that helped solidify his skills in theatrical direction. Over the years, his career expanded across theater, cinema, television, and radio. He worked with networks such as RAI and Fininvest, participating as an actor in the show Sputnik[4], and created radio programs including Dancing Esperia for RAI Radio 2. Since 1998, Cenci has served as artistic director of the performing arts program for the Meeting per l'amicizia fra i popoli in Rimini, an international cultural and performing arts festival.[5] In 2000, he founded his own company specializing in the production of theatrical and cinematic works, as well as cultural events.

In the theater world, Cenci has collaborated with artists such as Valeria Collina (actress), Mirna Kassis (singer)[6], Giampiero Pizzol (author), Giancarlo Giannini, Antonella Carone, Lucrezia Lante della Rovere, Massimo Popolizio, Gigio Alberti, Ettore Bassi[7],Alessandro Preziosi[8], and Massimo Dapporto. He has adapted for the stage the works of authors including G.K. Chesterton, T.S. Eliot, Albert Camus, Giacomo Leopardi, Oscar Vladislas de Lubicz-Milosz, and Paul Claudel.
