The Omni Group is a Pakistani conglomerate headquartered in Karachi, Sindh. Founded in 1999 by businessman Khawaja Anver Majid, the group operates across several industries, including sugar, cement, rice milling, ethanol, packaging, industrial gases, aviation, and power generation.[1]
History
[edit]Omni Group began as a family-owned enterprise in the late 1990s. It gained prominence by revitalizing non-operational public and private sector industries, particularly in rural Sindh. Over time, it expanded through vertical integration and now owns sugar mills, ethanol plants, rice mills, a cement factory, and power projects.[2]
Divisions
[edit]Sugar Mills
[edit]The company owns and operates multiple sugar mills in Sindh, including Bawany Sugar Mills, Naudero Sugar Mills, and New Dadu Sugar Mills. These mills are responsible for substantial employment and rural economic development.[2]
Rice Milling
[edit]In February 2025, the group launched "Pride Rice Mills Pvt Ltd" in Matli, Badin District, claiming it to be Pakistan’s most modern rice processing facility at the time.[3]
National Gases Limited
[edit]Acquired and restructured by Omni Group, this division produces medical and industrial gases that are distributed nationally.[1]
Ethanol and Packaging
[edit]Omni’s ethanol plants support sustainable fuel and exports, while its polypropylene packaging units serve the food and sugar industries.[1]
Aviation Services
[edit]Omni Aviation provides private charter flights and ground handling services at domestic airports.[1]
Power Projects
[edit]The group also operates captive power generation units to support its sugar mills and manufacturing facilities.[1]
Social Responsibility
[edit]The Omni Group regularly organizes free medical camps in flood-hit and remote areas. In January 2025, medical teams were deployed in Talhar and Naudero to treat over 1,000 patients. The company also supports education and local infrastructure through its CSR initiatives.[1]
Recognition
[edit]In August 2024, President Asif Ali Zardari announced that Khawaja Anver Majid would receive the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, the country’s second-highest civilian award, for his industrial leadership and philanthropic efforts.[4][5]
