History

[edit]

The OPONEO.PL Group originated from Citynet Media s.c., established in January 1999, which created automotive industry portals, including opony.com.pl. Online sales of tyres and rims started in 2001. In 2003, the service activity was separated into a new company, Opony.com Sp. z o.o.[5]

In subsequent years the company underwent restructuring and name changes. In 2006 the name Oponeo.pl Sp. z o.o. was adopted, and soon after a capital group was formed. Oponeo.pl S.A. debuted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2007. It was one of the first e-commerce companies listed on the Polish stock exchange[6]. International expansion began in 2009 with the launch of foreign online shops. In 2011 the company entered the British market[7].

In 2016, Dadelo Sp. z o.o. joined the Group, expanding operations into the sale of bicycles and bicycle accessories under the CentrumRowerowe.pl brand[8]. In December 2020, the company acquired Rotopino.pl S.A., which operates online shops with tools and power tools[9].

In 2025, the Oponeo.pl Capital Group continued its development, increasing revenues and investing in the expansion of its logistics centre in Zelgoszcz. In the first half of 2025, the Group’s revenues amounted to PLN 976,333,000 an increase of 12.5% compared to the same period of the previous year[10].
