Nolan Gray (born 1990) is an American entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He is a co-founder and general partner of Florent Venture Partners, a European venture capital firm focused on artificial intelligence and enterprise software.[1]
Gray was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2020 for his contributions to energy and technology entrepreneurship.[2] He received this recognition after co-founding Svea Solar , which he initially bootstrapped to over $50 million in sales,[3] later raising more than $200 million in funding,[4] and building the company into one of Europe’s fastest-growing climate technology firms with annual revenues exceeding $200 million.[5][6]
Early life and education
[edit]Gray studied business and philosophy at the University of San Francisco.[7] He began his career in Silicon Valley in 2011 and, following his first exit, relocated to Europe around 2014, where he co-founded one of the continent’s leading climate technology companies.[8]

[edit]Gray was an early employee and served as Chief Marketing Officer at Jobscience, a San Francisco–based recruitment software company.[9] Jobscience was later acquired by Vista Equity Partners as part of a series of acquisitions in the HR and recruitment technology sector.[10]
Svea Solar
[edit]In 2014, Gray co-founded Svea Solar , which grew into one of the largest solar energy companies in Europe and the largest in Sweden.[11] The company was listed twice in the Financial Times FT1000 list of Europe’s fastest-growing companies.[12][13]
Svea Solar reached revenues of 2 billion SEK (~$200 million) in 2024.[14] It also secured major funding, including a €100 million investment from CarVal Investors for utility-scale solar parks,[15] and a substantial growth investment from Altor Equity Partners exceeding $100 million.[16]

Florent Venture Partners
[edit]In 2024, Gray co-founded Florent Venture Partners (commonly branded as Florent), a European venture capital firm where he serves as a general partner.[19] He co-founded the firm together with Lars Rasmussen, co-founder of Google Maps, Danish entrepreneur Mads Rydahl, and Christian Dorffer. The firm invests in enterprise artificial intelligence, with focus areas including the Defense industry, Energy industry, Food industry, Financial services, and Data infrastructure.
Advisory roles
[edit]Gray has served as a founding advisor to Aira, a Vargas Holding–backed company focused on heat pumps that raised $150 million in 2025.[20]
He is also an advisor to Copado, a Salesforce DevOps platform that reached unicorn status in 2021.[21]
