Nardev Singh Kanwar (born 24 August 1979) is an Indian politician currently serving as the Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (HPBOCWWB). He assumed office on 15 March 2024.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Nardev Singh Kanwar was born in Jawalamukhi, Himachal Pradesh, India. He completed his postgraduate studies at Himachal Pradesh University, Summer Hill, Shimla. He currently resides in Jawalamukhi, Himachal Pradesh. He is married and has one son.
Awareness programs
[edit]A total of 719 awareness programs were organized during Kanwar’s tenure as Chairman in the year 2024–25 (up to 31 October 2024). These programs were conducted to educate construction workers about the registration process for becoming beneficiaries of the Board and to inform them about financial assistance available under 13 welfare schemes.[2]
Digitization initiatives
[edit]A mobile application of the HPBOCWWB was launched under Kanwar’s chairmanship. The application was developed by the Department of Digital Technologies and Governance, IT Bhawan, Mehli, Shimla, to facilitate faster worker registration and e-KYC verification so that claims could be processed more efficiently.[3]
Disbursement of claim amounts
[edit]Between 11 December 2022 and 30 November 2024, the Board disbursed a total of ₹38 crore to registered beneficiaries under various welfare schemes implemented by the HPBOCWWB.[4]
Official tours
[edit]As Chairman, Kanwar has undertaken official visits to the HPBOCWWB headquarters and the Ministry of Labour and Employment (Government of India). He has also completed six regional tour programs covering Rampur, Kinnaur, Bilaspur, Una, Mandi, and Theog.
