Moritz Baer is a German climate-finance researcher, Associate at the University of Oxford’s Institute for New Economic Thinking[1], and co-founder and CEO of Forward Analytics, a UK-based data and analytics company, member of the Net Zero Financial Service Providers Alliance.[2][3]
Baer has initiated the Environmental Stress Testing and Scenarios (ESTS) programme at the UK Centre for Greening Finance and Investment[4] co-hosted with the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group.[5] He continues to hold an affiliation as fellow at the Centre for Economic and Transition Expertise (CETEx). [6]
He has expertise in scenario analysis, transition risk modelling, and climate finance and has co-authored research on sustainable finance[7][8], including a global survey of Finance Ministries on climate with the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action.[9][10] He has been a speaker at the Bank of England Climate and Capital Conference in 2022.[11]
His research on financial risks from delayed climate action has been cited in coverage by BusinessGreen and IPE.[12][13]
