Mojtaba Yadegari (Persian: مجتبی یادگاری; born 31 March 1991) is an Iranian long-distance runner and humanitarian. He is a two-time world record holder recognized by the International Marathon and Records Organization (IMARO) and serves as a peace ambassador for the Iranian Red Crescent Society.[1]

Career

Yadegari began competing nationally in the late 2000s. In 2012, he set a national record certified by IMARO,[2] and in 2014 he broke an Asian record.[3] In 2025, he achieved two world records in long-distance running events registered by IMARO.[4]

Humanitarian work

Nicknamed the "Runner of Peace and Friendship", Yadegari is known for symbolic marathons promoting unity and humanitarian values. As a peace ambassador for the Iranian Red Crescent Society, he has completed long-distance runs across several provinces to raise awareness of humanitarian causes.[5][6]

His efforts have received national and international media coverage, including by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Mehr News Agency, and Varzesh3.[7][8]

Recognition

Yadegari has been recognized for integrating sports with peacebuilding initiatives and for representing Iran in international humanitarian events.[9]
