Submission declined on 7 September 2025 by Zzz plant (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Comment: Hello, as of right now this draft doesn't appear to demonstrate that Legard meets WP:NMUSICIAN or WP:GNG. Most of the sourcing is primary, non-independent, or otherwise doesn't meet the requirements of a reliable source. It would be helpful for future reviewers if you can identify the three best sources that establish notability of the subject on the draft's talk page. Thanks, Zzz plant (talk) 00:25, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

Matt Legard is an American musician and the frontman of the psychedelic and shoegaze band The Colourflies.[1][2][3]. He is the vocalist and guitarist for the group.. The Colourflies, which started in 2011[4], feature Legard's "soft vocals and thoughtful lyrics" complemented by guitar riffs that are reminiscent of 1990s grunge[5]. The band initially started by playing small clubs in Idaho and Washington State before achieving more mainstream success[6]. The band has touched on success and have extensively toured the United States and Europe[7][8], and their next album is being executive produced by Greg Richling of The Wallflowers[9]. The band is current signed to Blackhouse Records, a European record label.[10]
Legard has a four-octave vocal range and is a jazz-trained musician[11]. He has been noted for his use of vintage and "forgotten" gear[12], embracing import guitars from the 1970s and 80s. He views guitars as a creative tool, believing that each one "has a song in it." The Colourflies were recently signed to the European record label Shore Dive Records[13].
Legard along with The Colourflies have appeared on the public television program Inland Sessions, which is presented by KSPS-TV, a PBS affiliate[14]. Their performance was recorded on December 13, 2024, and broadcast on March 3, 2025, as part of the show's fifth season. The band's performance and an in-depth interview were featured, with Legard's vocal melodies and grunge-style guitar riffs noted as key elements of their sound.
Legard is currently working on a new full-length album[15][16], working with Ken Stringfellow from The Posies[17], and recording in multiple locations. Legard has also had a video of his experimental guitar playing and building become a top-ranked and searched video on TikTok[18].
