Matthew Gravolin (born January 31, 1991) is an Australian musician, songwriter and author, best known as the creative force behind the bands Agnes Manners, and Hellions.
Career
[edit]In 2013, Gravolin co-founded Hellions[1] in Sydney, Australia, alongside Anthony Caruso and Dre Faivre. Serving as the lead guitarist, songwriter and vocalist, Gravolin played a key role in shaping the band's sound and success.
Hellions signed with Independent Record Label UNFD,[2] and released four studio albums. Their third album, Opera Oblivia, earned an ARIA nomination for Best Heavy Rock/Heavy Metal Album at the 2016 ARIA Awards.
Agnes Manners
[edit]In 2019, Gravolin announced his departure from Hellions; transitioning from his punk rock roots adopting a more "melodic and introspective sound, adding depth and emotional resonance"[3] to the music of Agnes Manners.
Agnes Manners' debut album, Fantasia Famish (2020) incorporates a multitude of genres, and includes features from John (Trophy Eyes), and CJ Gilpin (Dream State)[4]
Agnes Manners' second release, Peace and Why I Didn't Think I Deserved It or Really Needed It Anyway,[5] explores theme of inner turmoil, self-worth, and emotional growth. The album's title reflects the internal conflict of feeling undeserving of peace while simultaneously yearning for it.
