This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

María Eugenia Bayardo Dodge (born February 11, 1963) is a Mexican sculptor and multidisciplinary artist.[1] Her artistic practice spans sculpture, architecture, painting, engraving, tapestry, and murals.
Early life and education
[edit]Bayardo was born in Monterrey, Mexico.[2] In 1983, she studied architecture at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO) in Guadalajara.[3] Later, she shifted her focus toward the arts, developing sculptural and textile projects. She expanded her artistic education internationally, earning a Master's Degree in Sculpture from the Escuela Superior de Artes y Oficios in Toledo, Spain.[4]
Career
[edit]Bayardo's early work focused on fiber-based sculptures and sustainable architecture.[5] In 1988, she received third place at the Cuizmala '88 Art Contest in Mexico.
She later shifted toward classical and figurative sculpture, specializing in modeling materials such as clay, wax, and plaster. Over time, her work evolved into abstraction, blending recognizable forms with simplified, fragmented structures. Her Solitude series and later works such as Il Bacio and Caballo de Málaga reflect this stylistic transition.[6]
Bayardo's public sculpture The British was installed in 2018 in Parque Lineal in Morelia, Mexico.[7]
In addition to her sculptural practice, Bayardo has participated in cultural projects such as the Manifesto exhibition at the Festival de Mayo in 2021.[8]
Style and influences
[edit]Bayardo's work integrates abstraction and figurative forms, often drawing from cubist and futurist influences.[9] Her sculptures explore themes of identity, solitude, and emotional transformation.

[edit]Bayardo's works have been exhibited in Mexico, the United States, Spain, Italy, and France. She has participated in events such as Mujer. Maestras de la pintura y la escultura at the Museo Gustavo de Maeztu in Spain.[10]
