Laurent Hamida is a French War correspondent, journalist and cameraman born November 18, 1965. He has reported extensively from conflict zones and areas of political unrest, including Afghanistan, Bosnia, Iraq, Libya, Chechnya, Cambodia, and Mali. He is known for his ability to produce, film, and interview subjects in war torn areas.

His career started in the early 1990's when he was based in Afghanistan for a year as a freelancer. reportage includes front-line coverage of NATO and U.S. military campaigns in Afghanistan, the Russian offensive of Chechnya during the first war. He later joined Reuters’ Paris bureau where he spent nine years in their global service producing television packages on breaking events, including the 2005 Paris riots, the 2007 French presidential election and the 2007 Rugby World Cup. He also reported from military embeds with NATO forces in Afghanistan including the U.S. Marines in Helmand, (2008), the 101st Airborne in Khost, (2008) and the British Royal Marines in Helmand (2007).

Hamida has created long-form television reports for the French language channel Canal+ S.A. and for the French documentary programs L’Effet Papillon and ARTE Reportage, often produced by the French documentary production company Agence CAPA.

Before working in media he was a member of the French Armed Forces and took part in the Multinational Force in Lebanon, and was stationed in Beirut immediately after the 1983 Beirut barracks bombings. Hamida specializes in international security, military operations, and geopolitical developments.

In 2008 the online Swiss media company Bondi Blog / L'Hebdo profiled Hamida and his experiences as a war reporter.[2] In June 2012, Hamida appeared on France Culture to discuss his experiences reporting from Mali as part of his documentary reportage Au Cœur du Conflit au Mali.[3]
