Dr Lallukhum Fimate (born 1 March 1950) is an Indian forensic medicine specialist, medical educator and administrator from Manipur. He served as Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, and was appointed Director of RIMS in December 2003, serving until June 2010. In 2017 he was appointed the first Director of the Mizoram Institute of Medical Education & Research (MIMER), which later became Zoram Medical College. Fimate has also been active as a medico‑legal advisor and contested the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly elections from Tipaimukh as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Fimate was born in Parbung village, Churachandpur district, Manipur. He completed his MBBS and later obtained an MD in Forensic Medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, in 1981.[2]
Career
[edit]Fimate served in various academic and clinical roles in forensic medicine, rising to become Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at RIMS, Imphal. He was appointed Director of RIMS in December 2003.[3]
In October 2017, Fimate was appointed as the founding Director of the Mizoram Institute of Medical Education & Research (MIMER) to oversee the establishment of the state’s first medical college; the institute later became Zoram Medical College.[4]
Research and professional roles
[edit]Fimate’s MD thesis examined patterns of cranio‑intracranial injuries in fatal vehicular accidents and he has held leadership positions in forensic societies and medico‑legal organisations in the region.[5]

Political career
