Kerbi Urbanowski

Kerbi Urbanowski (born August 15, 1990) is an American multidisciplinary artist artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Known for their work in stained glass, their art practice is rooted in sustainability and improving financial accessibility to the arts. Urbanowski combines traditional glass techniques with contemporary design, often extending the medium into abstraction and functional objects.[1]

Urbanowski was born in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to attend the San Francisco Art Institute, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting in 2012.[2]

Career

In 2021, Urbanowski collaborated with the Los Angeles–based collective Brain Dead to produce a series of limited-edition stained glass clocks. Hypebeast described the pieces as “unique” works that merged contemporary artistry with homeware. The clocks were released through Dover Street Market London.[3][4]

A second collaboration with Brain Dead followed in 2023, resulting in desk lamps and night lights. Hypebae noted the pieces for their “whimsical” qualities and highlighted Urbanowski’s emphasis on precision and craft.[5]

Urbanowski has also founded the East Bay Stained Glass Collective, a community studio in Berkeley, California, which offers classes, workshops, public programming, and hosts corporate events for both emerging and professional makers.[6]
