Heidelberg Theological Seminary (HTS) is a conservative reformed seminary associated with the Reformed Church in the United States located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.[1]

History

The seminary was initially housed in the Providence Reformed Church in Vermillion, South Dakota, and first began instruction in the fall of 2002.[2] As of 2016, HTS operates under the oversight of the Consistory of Zion Reformed Church in Menno, South Dakota, and holds classes on the campus of Trinity Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, both RCUS congregations.[3]

Heidelberg Seminary was approved as an affiliate member of the Association of Reformed Theological Seminaries in 2016,[4] and applied for accredited status in 2023.[5] In 2024, a plan was announced to construct a new Sioux Falls facility on property offered by Trinity Reformed Church.[6][7]

Programs

HTS offers the Master of Divinity, Master of Theological Studies, Master of Arts in Church Leadership, and Doctor of Ministry.[8]

Philippines

In 2017, an invitation was extended by the Pearl of the Orient Covenant Reformed Church (POCRC) to establish an extension of HTS on the island of Luzon.[9] By 2018, 22 men were enrolled in a four-year ministerial training program, with additional students expressing interest.[10] By 2020, HTS was training over 60 men in the Philippines through intensive courses. In 2024, HTS celebrated its first four graduates in the Philippines following conferences and classes taught by Dr. Koerner and Dr. Patrick Morgan. In 2024, HTS celebrated its first four graduates in the Philippines.[11]

Kenya

As of 2024, the RCUS operates seven established learning centers across Kenya with class offerings from HTS.[11]
