HIPAA One is not legal standard, but a cloud-based compliance software suite that provides modules for security risk analyses, privacy and breach risk assessments, workforce training, business associate management, and remediation tracking. It is marketed to healthcare organizations that need to meet requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). These requirements often lack clarity for individual organizations. [1]
History
[edit]HIPAA One was established in Lindon, Utah, in 2012 as a developer of cloud-based software designed to guide healthcare organizations through HIPAA compliance requirements.[2]
On January 6, 2021, Intraprise Health, a Reston, Virginia–based cybersecurity and compliance services provider, acquired HIPAA One in what was described as an add-on acquisition.[3] [4] [5] The acquisition merged HIPAA One’s compliance tool with Intraprise Health’s Protect risk management platform. The deal was financed with support from Bluff Point Associates and existing investor Health Enterprise Partners, L.P. [6]
Product and Features
[edit]HIPAA One includes a Security Risk Assessment module that provides a workflow for conducting the federally required HIPAA risk analysis. The software also includes policy management functions and employee training modules. Additional features include compliance tracking and reporting, business associate agreement management, and tools for monitoring compliance audits.[7]
