Goodnight Charlie is a 2016 English-language short thriller film directed by Dhruv Vikram and produced by Vikram based on child abuse within a family that was released on YouTube.[2][3][4][5]

Plot

The film is about a family of three consisting of a mother, Angela; a father; and a young son, Charlie, who likes to draw. Angela gets an email from her office and she has six more balance sheet to work on, which stresses her out. The father assures her that he and her brother Simon, who is originally from the United States and is staying over for a fortnight, will take care of the household chores and that she has nothing to worry about. The father wakes up Charlie at around 9 a. m. and asks him to eat breakfast. Charlie and Simon watched Despicable Me the previous night and read Peppa Pig. Angela tells Simon that she will set up the spare room for him and that he doesn't have to sleep on the sofa. Angela and Simon have a close relationship and Simon calls her as Ang.

While Charlie is drawing outside, he starts to hear noises, and Simon, a child psychiatrist, is seen in the background inside the house talking on the phone to a Mrs. Winter saying that four-year-old is too young to be taking medication. While Charlie is eating his dinner inside, he starts to hear the voice again, till his father interrupts him and asks him to eat his dinner. Someone enters Charlie's room at night. A day goes by and Simon overhears Charlie's father at night say that he isn't working the next day. Angela comes across a drawing of a red horned creature that Charlie based on the person who comes to his room every night.

Charlie's behavior visibly changes and when Angela is at work, her husband tells her on the phone that Simon recommended that Charlie take Panadol. Since Charlie is errily quiet, exhibits erratic behavior and is sick, Angela confronts Simon after coming back from work and tells him that she is suspicious of him. However, when she goes to check on Simon at night, he is smoking outside. When she goes to Charlie's room and tries to wake Charlie, to her surprise her husband is the one behind the door.[2][1]
