Franco Farina (born July 3, 1958) is an Italian-American opera singer known for his performances in the operas of Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, and Richard Wagner. Early life and education
[edit]Farina was born in Trumbull, Connecticut, to an Italian-American family. He began vocal studies in his teens and pursued formal training at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Richard Miller. He earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in voice, appearing in student productions and receiving recognition for the clarity and range of his tenor voice. After completing his studies at Oberlin, Farina became a graduate assistant at The Hartt School and later joined the American Opera Center at the Juilliard School. At age twenty-four, he made his professional debut at the New York City Opera. Oberlin College later awarded him an honorary Doctor of Music degree.
