Even Days Dissolve is a collaborative studio album by Scottish guitarist Scott William Urquhart and Stirling group Constant Follower, led by Stephen McAll. It was released on 14 April 2023 by Golden Hum Recordings and was longlisted for the 2023 Scottish Album of the Year Award.[1][2][3]

Background and recording

[edit]

Writing and concept drew on the poetry of Norman MacCaig and the Scottish natural environment. Under the Radar (magazine) reported that the collaboration formed around McAll’s long recovery story and shared reference points in Scottish poetry. The album features two songs featuring recordings of Norman MacCaig reading his poems (Summer Farm & Basking Shark).[4] McAll recorded and mixed the album at his Hum of Gold studio in Stirling. The album was mastered by Mark Kramer, professionally known as Kramer, at Noise, Miami.[5]

Artwork

[edit]

Cover artwork is credited to Kanae Park. A Monorail Music exclusive included a unique Scott William Urquhart painting packaged with each LP.[6][7]

Release and formats

Released 14 April 2023 by Golden Hum Recordings on vinyl, compact disc and digital. Confirmed vinyl variants include transparent orange and transparent turquoise.[8][9][10]

Composition and themes
