Elşən Xəzər (born Elşən Qürbətov; 29 March 1979, in Khazar, Baku) is an Azerbaijani poet, Maddah and Meykhana performer.

Biography

Early life

Elşən Qürbətov was born on 29 March 1973 in Khazar, Baku. His family is originally from Jalilabad.[1] He graduated from the “Mass Directing” faculty of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. He started performing Meykhana locally in 1995.[2]

Career

He went on to participate in the De gelsin program in 2001 and 2002, making it to the semi-finals on his first appearance, and being defeated in the quarter-finals in his second appearance respectively.

He went on to partner with his friend best friend and De Gelsin finalist Aqsin Fateh to create a music duo, releasing multiple albums, and starring in a movie together.

In later life, he adopted the religious name "Haci Elsen Xezer" and began performing Maddahi.
