Elşən Xəzər (born Elşən Qürbətov; 29 March 1979, in Khazar, Baku) is an Azerbaijani poet, Maddah and Meykhana performer.
Biography

[edit]Elşən Qürbətov was born on 29 March 1973 in Khazar, Baku. His family is originally from Jalilabad.[1] He graduated from the “Mass Directing” faculty of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. He started performing Meykhana locally in 1995.[2]
Career
[edit]He went on to participate in the De gelsin program in 2001 and 2002, making it to the semi-finals on his first appearance, and being defeated in the quarter-finals in his second appearance respectively.
He went on to partner with his friend best friend and De Gelsin finalist Aqsin Fateh to create a music duo, releasing multiple albums, and starring in a movie together.
In later life, he adopted the religious name "Haci Elsen Xezer" and began performing Maddahi.
