Ekaki is an upcoming Indian web series created and directed by Ashish Chanchlani, marking his comeback following a controversy surrounding his appearance on India's Got Latent.[1] The series also marks his directorial debut and features a genre shift from comedy to a blend of mystery, drama, and supernatural elements.[2]
Premise
[edit]Though detailed plot information remains unrevealed, Ekaki is described as a psychological and supernatural journey that explores themes of solitude, fear, and self-reflection.[3] The title, meaning “loner” in Hindi, suggests a solitary protagonist grappling with internal and possibly paranormal experiences.
Background
[edit]In 2024, Chanchlani faced public backlash for his participation in India’s Got Latent, which led to a temporary break from content creation.[4] Ekaki was officially announced in early 2025 as part of his creative revival. According to Chanchlani, the series represents a deeply personal project and his most ambitious narrative effort.[5]
Development
[edit]Chanchlani serves as the writer, director, and lead actor of Ekaki.[6] He released the official poster for the show via Instagram on April 28, 2025, describing it as "the chilliest trip".[7] The series is reportedly a horror-comedy with supernatural undertones and black humor.[8]
Release
[edit]As of May 2025, no official release date has been confirmed. However, the series is expected to premiere on Chanchlani’s YouTube channel or a partnered OTT platform in late 2025.[9]
Reception
[edit]The announcement of Ekaki was widely covered in entertainment media and praised for its genre experimentation. Fans welcomed Chanchlani’s bold departure from his usual comedic format.[10] Media outlets described the promotional poster as intriguing and atmospheric.[11]
