Dirseo Pasha in 2024

Dirseo Pasha (born August 29, 1996) is an Albanian political economist, government consultant, and podcast host. He currently works with the Agency for Innovation and Excellence in Albania and is noted for his contributions to open governance, regional development, and public policy. He is also the founder and host of the political podcast Majtas.

Early life and education

Graduating from LSE

Dirseo Pasha was born in Tirana, Albania. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Epoka University..[1] He later completed a Master of Science in Political Economy of Europe at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) with a full scholarship.[2] He also attended executive programs at the Swedish Academy for Young Professionals (SAYP) at Lund University and the Emerging Leaders program at Harvard Kennedy School.

Career

Early career

Dirseo Pasha began his career with internships and fellowships. He was an economics trainee at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Albania. He also joined the Trans Adriatic Pipeline internship program, and won the Vodafone Graduate Program at Vodafone Albania.[3] He later worked in external relations at Royal Dutch Shell’s Albania operations, and was involved in regional development work at the Albanian Development Fund.

Government consultancy

In 2024, Pasha became a consultant for the Agency for Innovation and Excellence (AIE), a public body under the Albanian Prime Minister’s Office focused on modernization and innovation.

International development

In 2023, Dirseo Pasha was selected as a Professional Fellow in the Democracy and Governance department at Chemonics International in Washington, D.C., through the Albanian-American Development Foundation’s MIP Fellowship.[4] At Chemonics, he contributed to USAID-funded governance projects and attended the SID-US Annual Conference. He also co-authored an article for the Open Government Partnership on procurement transparency. [5]

Political involvement

In 2024, Pasha was selected as one of 35 participants in the inaugural Political Academy of the Socialist Party of Albania, a national leadership training initiative.[6]

Media and commentary

Pasha is the host of the political podcast Majtas (“To the Left”), launched in 2024. The podcast features progressive political discussions and guest interviews, including one with Tirana’s mayor Erion Veliaj[7] as well as with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya[8], leader of the Belarusian opposition in exile.

He also appears in Albanian media as a political analyst. In late 2024, he commented on the U.S. presidential elections on News24[9] where he was introduced as a guest lecturer for the Political Academy as well as on Top Channel as a candidate of the platform ''The MP we want'' [10]

Volunteerism

Dirseo Pasha has been actively engaged in international volunteer work. In 2016, he participated in AIESEC Poland, supporting youth leadership and cross-cultural exchange initiatives. In 2023, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in New Mexico, United States, contributing to housing improvement projects for underserved communities. Since 2023, he has also served as a Regional Ambassador for the London School of Economics, mentoring students from Albania who are interested in pursuing graduate education abroad.

Dirseo Pasha is multilingual. He speaks Albanian, English, French, and Italian fluently, and has a working knowledge of Greek.
