On May 29, 2025, Sana Yousuf, a 17-year-old Pakistani woman TikToker, was shot dead in an affluent neighborhood of the capital on evening.[1][2][3] The attacker, a 22-year-old man, entered the victim's home and targeted her for personal reasons after she repeatedly rejected his romantic advances.[4][5][6]
Murder incident
[edit]On May 29, 2025 Islamabad Police Chief Ali Nasser Razavi announced that the accused confessed to the murder during initial interrogation and that the victim's weapon and mobile phone were also found in his possession.[7][8][9] Police investigations are ongoing to complete the case.[10][11][12] he attacker, a 22-year-old man, entered the victim's home and targeted her out of personal motives and because she repeatedly rejected his romantic advances.[13][14][15] According to the Express Tribune, Sana died of her injuries after being taken to the hospital.[16][17][18] The attacker, who fled after the murder, was identified and arrested in less than 20 hours using CCTV footage and location tracking.[19][20][21]
This teenager had nearly 800,000 followers on the social networks TikTok and Instagram.[22][23][24] Yousaf, originally from Chitral in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, had been living in Islamabad in recent years.[25][26][27] She was very popular among social media users for her humorous, educational, and entertaining content.[28][29][30] Hours before her murder, the teenager had posted a video of herself cutting her birthday cake on social media, with her family and friends also present.[31][32][33]
Women's rights activists have emphasized that the culture of male ownership over women's decisions must be seriously examined and laws protecting women from gender-based violence must be strengthened.[34][35][36]
