David Khrikuli (Georgian: დავით ხრიკული; born 21 April 2001) is a Georgian classical pianist. He was a finalist at the XIX International Chopin Piano Competition in 2025.
Early life and education
[edit]He was born in Tbilisi, Georgia. He began studying piano at the age of eight and won his first international competition at 11. From 2008 to 2015, he studied at the Zakaria Paliashvili Music in Tbilisi with Darejan Tsintsadze and Revaz Tavadze. Since 2020, he has studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid with Galina Eguiazarova and Stanislav Ioudenitch.[1]
Career
[edit]Khrikuli has won several international piano competitions, including first prize at the 2024 Cantù International Piano Orchestra Competition in Italy and first prize and the audience prize at the 2024 Vigo International Piano Competition in Spain. He has also received awards in competitions held in Georgia, Russia, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, Kazakhstan, and China.[2][3][4]
He has performed with the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Camerata, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Pablo Casals State Quartet and Sulkhan Tsintsadze State Quartet.
Khrikuli has attended masterclasses with Elisabeth Leonskaja, Rena Shereshevskaya, and Nelson Goerner.[5]
In 2024, he won both the First Prize and Special Prize at the Cantu International Piano and Orchestra Competition, as well as the First Prize and Audience Prize at the Vigo Piano City International Competition.
