Draft:Colt Romberger

Colt Clifford Romberger (born September 23, 1984) is an American actor, military veteran, retired law enforcement officer, and advocate for Vietnam War veterans affected by Agent Orange and other toxic exposures. He gained national attention for his 2017 horseback journey across the United States to raise awareness about the health impacts of toxic exposure among veterans.

Early life and education

[edit]

Colt was born in Elizabethville, Pennsylvania, and raised on his family's horse ranch in the Appalachian Mountains. His father, Clifford Romberger, worked as a horse wrangler for film and television productions, and introduced Colt to horsemanship and the entertainment industry at an early age. He participated in Civil War reenactments and was soon after cast in the film The Patriot (2000), starring Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger[1].

Colt graduated from Upper Dauphin High School in 2003 and later attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood, California, graduating in 2005.

Military Service

[edit]

In 2007, Colt enlisted in the United States Air Force, following a family tradition of military service. He completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base and attended intelligence technical school at Goodfellow Air Force Base. He was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland, and deployed to Forward Operating Base Loyalty in Baghdad, Iraq, in 2009, where he served alongside the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, and met renowned author and founder of Feanor Press whose novels include Call Me Milt and Speak the Devil's Name[2][3].

Law Enforcement Career

[edit]

Following his military service, Colt returned to Los Angeles and joined the Pasadena Police Department, retiring in 2022. During his tenure, he was part of the Field Operations Division, Counterterrorism Unit, and served as a drill instructor with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Modular Academy.[4]

Expedition Orange

[edit]

In 2017, Colt launched Expedition Orange, a horseback journey from Los Angeles, California, to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.. The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the long-term health effects of Agent Orange exposure among Vietnam War veterans. The initiative was inspired by his father's diagnosis of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a neurological condition linked to chemical exposure. Expedition Orange has since grown into a reputable non-profit organization raising awareness for all veterans who have suffered from toxic exposure and has gained the attention of the United States Congress and other veteran non-profit organizations.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
