Balogun Olamilekan (born 20 November 1997), known professionally as Balloranking,[1] is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is associated with street-pop and Afropop styles and is signed to Lormy Entertainment and Dvpper Music.[2]

Early Life

Balloranking was born[3] and raised in the Coker area of Surulere, Lagos State.[4] He grew up in a musical household; his father served as a choir conductor, which exposed him early to music and sparked his interest in pursuing it professionally.[2] He began his musical journey around age seventeen while working as a graphic designer his boss’s frequent musical playing motivated him to create his own music.[5]

Career

Balloranking gained recognition in the early 2020s with several singles, including "Time No Dey" (featuring Seyi Vibez), "Holiday" (featuring Small Doctor), and "Never Die Trying" . [6]In 2021, he released his debut album Zero Panic, followed by the EP Trench Kid in 2022, which featured collaborations with Seyi Vibez, Bad Boy Timz, Lyta, and Bella Shmurda.[7]

In September 2023, Balloranking released his album Ghetto Gospel, marking a significant career milestone. The album, produced under Dvpper Music, expanded his sound and audience reach with tracks like "We Up" (featuring D’Yani), "Hustle Hard", and "Alive", earning widespread digital traction.[8]

Balloranking's music blends Afro-soul, hip-hop, and Lagos street music a style often referred to as "street pop" or "street ballad",[9] characterized by its vivid storytelling, melodic hooks, and colloquial expression. Publications highlight his authenticity, emotional depth, and connection to Lagos street culture as defining aspects of his artistry.[10]
