Baisangur Susurkaev (born January 8, 2001) is a Russian mixed martial artist who competes in the middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is known by his nickname, "Hunter."[1]

Early life and background

Susurkaev was born in Chechnya, Russia.[2] He has three brothers and one sister.[3] Before pursuing MMA full-time, he worked in Chechnya as a laborer. After moving to the United States, he worked as a food delivery man and furniture loader.[4] He trains with Kill Cliff FC.[5]

Grappling and amateur career

In 2019, Susurkaev became the Russian National Pankration Champion.[6] He also won gold at the Jiu-Jitsu World League Pan Americans.[7]

Professional MMA career

Early career

Susurkaev began his professional MMA career in 2019.[8] He is known primarily as a striker but has demonstrated grappling ability, including submission victories. He competed in regional promotions before appearing on Dana White's Contender Series.[9]

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Susurkaev earned a UFC contract via Dana White's Contender Series with a first-round knockout victory over Murtaza Talha.[10] He made his UFC debut at UFC 319, submitting Eric Nolan via rear-naked choke in the second round.[11] At UFC 322, he defeated Eric McConico by one-punch knockout in the first round.[12]

Fighting style

Susurkaev is primarily a striker with knockout power, but he has also shown submission skills. He possesses strong takedown defense and a high finishing rate, with several first-round finishes in his career.[13]

Personal life

Susurkaev has three brothers and one sister.[14] He has two children, a son and a daughter. His nickname is "Hunter," reflecting his finishing instincts. He admires Jon Jones and hopes to train with him. He is ethnically Chechen.[15]
