BSTN is a retailer for premium sportswear, sneakers, and accessories founded in Munich, Germany in 2013.
The brand portfolio includes footwear brands like Nike, adidas, Jordan Brand, asics, and New Balance, among others, paired with apparel from labels like The North Face, Polo Ralph Lauren, AMI Paris, A Bathing Ape, CDG, and Stone Island.
In addition to the inaugural store in Munich's Maxvorstadt district, BSTN operates retail locations in the Schanzenviertel in Hamburg and in Brixton in the south of London as well as an online shop.[1]
History
[edit]While the brand originally started as a clothing label, BEASTIN, the founders created a brick-and-mortar shop to surround their brand with a matching retail environment that included athletic footwear as well as apparel and accessories from hard-to-find streetwear brands. Located in the Maxvorstadt district of the founders’ hometown of Munich, the first BSTN (spelled in all capitals) store opened its doors in 2013.[2]
In November 2017, a 100-sqm space in Hamburg’s Schanzenviertel marked the second BSTN store, continuing the brand’s offer of premium sportswear, elevated streetwear brands and highly sought-after sneakers, including limited edition releases.[3] Similar to the Munich store, the retail space in Hamburg features a shoe wall made from natural stone and mahogany wood fixtures.[4]
Starting with a friends & family release in November 2020[5], BSTN has partnered with adidas for a total of three issues of the 'European Basketball Heritage' series, honoring three of the most successful franchises in European club basketball of all time: Jugoplastika Split (today Košarkaški klub Split; English: Split Basketball Club), the only team to win the EuroLeague three times in a row (1989-91) [6] and seven-time EuroLeague champions Panathinaikos B.C.[7] (both released in April 2022) as well as record holder and eleven-time EuroLeague champion Real Madrid Baloncesto.[8] Each release of the EBH series included a jointly created adidas shoe with the respective team's crest as well as a hardcover coffetable book of the same title featuring exclusive interviews with active and former players, coaches, etc.[9]
During the inaugural edition of the adidas Consortium Cup – a design competition hosted by the German sportswear manufacturer for retailers from its 'Consortium' tearing, held in early 2023 – BSTN advanced to the second round, winning its first round matchup through a fan vote in favor of their 'OG With A Twist' design of the adidas Samba and an accompanying campaign starring Real Madrid defender David Alaba.[10]
The first BSTN store outside of the company’s home country of Germany opened its doors in January 2023, when the BSTN London flagship store debuted in the neighborhood of Brixton in the southern part of the British capital.[11] The store concept combines the brand’s product portfolio of premium footwear and apparel with a dedicated community hub on the first floor, hosting events, workshops, and panel talks.[12] The retro-futuristic design concept of the two-story space features stainless steel, sanded concrete, and wood alongside three large-scale LED panels on the walls and in the dome ceiling.[13]
Between 2024 and 2025, the retailer launched a three-part collaboration with adidas and FC Bayern München[14], resulting in a total of four jointly created jerseys – a home, away, and alternate uniform for FC Bayern Basketball for the 2024/25 season and the opening of the team's new home arena SAP Garden[15] as well as the 2025/26 third kit jersey for the franchise's football teams.[16]
In 2025, BSTN celebrated the company's 10th anniversary by launching a series of collaborations with long-time partners including adidas, New Era, and Lacoste.[17]
