Ashneer Grover (born 14 June 1982) is an Indian entrepreneur, investor, and author. He is the co-founder and former Managing Director of the fintech company BharatPe and is a judge on the reality TV show Shark Tank India.[1][2]
Early life and education
[edit]Grover was born in Delhi, India, to a middle-class family. His father was a Chartered Accountant and his mother was a teacher.[citation needed] He completed his schooling at Apeejay School, Delhi. He earned a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi and later pursued an MBA in Finance from IIM Ahmedabad.[1]
Career

[edit]After graduation, Grover worked with Kotak Investment Banking, American Express, and Grofers, gaining experience in investment banking, corporate finance, and startup operations.[1]
BharatPe
[edit]In 2018, Grover co-founded BharatPe, a fintech startup providing QR-based digital payments, merchant lending, and financial solutions for small and medium businesses in India.[3]
In February 2022, Grover resigned as Managing Director following a PwC audit report regarding his conduct.[4] In 2025, Grover and BharatPe settled their disputes, with Grover agreeing to sever all professional ties.[5] Grover also faced allegations of financial misconduct, internal audits, and share transfer disputes.[6][7]
Media presence
[edit]Grover was a judge on Shark Tank India.[8] He was also criticized on Shark Tank India for investing less than the committed amounts in certain startups.[9]
He also hosted the reality show Rise and Fall, focusing on entrepreneurship and business strategy.[10]
Personal life
