Ashiq-e-Rasul (Persian–Urdu: عاشقِ رسول; also spelled Ashek-e-Rasul) is a term used in Islamic religious and cultural contexts to describe a person who expresses deep love and devotion toward the Prophet Muhammad. The expression is commonly found in Islamic devotional literature, Sufi traditions, and the socio-religious discourse of South Asia.
Association
[edit]In South Asia, the term Ashiq-e-Rasul is also used within specific religious movements. Followers of the Muhammadi Islam sufi order associated with Dewanbag Sharif describe themselves as Ashek-e-Rasul in their internal religious discourse. According to organizational and media reports, the community organizes an annual event known as the World Ashek-e-Rasul Conference, which is presented as a devotional gathering centered on reverence for the Prophet Muhammad.[1]
