Official Biography: Ms. Anusree Tubsuwan
Ms. Anusree Tubsuwan (born 23 May 1969 in Bangkok, Thailand) is a Thai politician and public policy leader with extensive experience in diplomacy, social development, labour affairs, and parliamentary work. She currently serves as an Advisor to the Minister of Justice and an Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives. She previously served as a Member of the House of Representatives (party-list) under the Ruampalang Party, and has been actively involved in both national and local politics.
She is the daughter of Police Lieutenant General Anucha Tubsuwan and Mrs. Sitang Buranasingh Tubsuwan. Her father served as a close aide to former Prime Minister General Chatichai Choonhavan, instilling in her a strong sense of public duty and commitment to national service from an early age.
Ms. Anusree holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science (International Relations), Second-Class Honours, from the Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University. She continued her studies overseas and obtained a Master’s degree in International Relations (Development Policy) from United States International University – Europe, London, United Kingdom. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership in Society, Business and Politics at the College of Social Innovation, Rangsit University, reflecting her continued dedication to academic and leadership development.
Ms. Anusree began her career as a civil servant at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. Over the years, she served in key departments including the Department of International Economic Affairs, the Department of Information, the Department of East Asian Affairs, the Office of Policy and Planning, and the Office of Personnel Administration. From 2004 to 2007, she held the position of Consul at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Hong Kong, where she was also a member of the Election Management Committee for Thai MPs and Senators abroad in Hong Kong and Macau, and worked actively in consular protection for Thai nationals.
After returning to Thailand, she was appointed Secretary to the Deputy Minister and later the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Surin Pitsuwan. She subsequently transitioned from civil service to politics, beginning at the local level when M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, then Governor of Bangkok and her former professor at Chulalongkorn University, invited her to serve as Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok. This role marked her first formal step into political office and allowed her to work closely on urban governance and city-level policy between 2013 and 2014.
She later joined the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and the Ministry of Labour as a political official attached to the Office of the Prime Minister. In these capacities, she played a significant role in strategic communications, political strategy, international cooperation, and policy work related to women, children, persons with disabilities, vulnerable populations, and labour issues. She has also led Thai delegations to various international forums, including meetings under the United Nations, ASEAN, and regional ministerial conferences.
In 2018, Ms. Anusree became Director of the Action Coalition for Thailand Party (later renamed Ruampalang Party) and stood as the No. 4 candidate on the party-list in the 2019 general election. She was subsequently elected as a Member of the House of Representatives. During her term in Parliament, she served on several committees, including the Special Committee on Drafting Parliamentary Rules, and participated in inter-parliamentary cooperation mechanisms such as the Thailand–Myanmar and Thailand–Cambodia Parliamentary Friendship Groups, as well as the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
Beyond her formal political roles, Ms. Anusree is deeply committed to social work. In 2021, she founded the public benefit organisation “Anusree Ruamjai Hai Kan Institute”, which focuses on supporting persons with disabilities, older persons, and disadvantaged workers affected directly and indirectly by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this initiative, she has helped to mobilise assistance, welfare support, and community-based care for vulnerable groups across Thailand.
Throughout her career, Ms. Anusree has been recognised with numerous honours and awards, including: - Outstanding Thai Woman in Politics, National Council of Women under the Royal Patronage (2015) - “Ton Tham” Award – Model for Social Contribution to Society and the Nation (2018) - Grateful Child Award, National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand (12 August 2022)
In recognition of her longstanding service to the nation, she has been conferred high royal decorations, including: - Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand (M.W.M.) in 2023 - Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant (P.C.) in 2020
With her combined background in diplomacy, social policy, labour affairs, and legislative work, Ms. Anusree continues to contribute to Thailand’s development with a focus on equity, protection of vulnerable groups, and constructive political engagement.
