Early Life and Education
[edit]Antonio Bernard Ma‑at was born in 1999 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines, to Bernard Ma-at and Joana Ma-at. He grew up with his siblings, Kimberly and Sabrena Kyle Ma-at, in a family that placed a high value on both education and the arts. His early passion for creativity was nurtured through a love of literature and music.
Ma-at's educational journey began at Opao Elementary School in Tanjay City. After completing elementary school, he attended Villaflores College for high school, where his interest in writing and music began to flourish. He participated in various competitions, showcasing his literary and musical talents.
After high school, Ma-at pursued a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a major in Marketing Management at Diaz College. During his college years, he continued to explore his creative side, engaging in songwriting and local *Battle of the Bands* competitions. He also attended the Academy of Farsala to study Philosophy in Literature and Arts, which deepened his intellectual interests and introduced him to influential literary figures such as Dante Alighieri, Gerard Manley Hopkins, E.E. Cummings, and Dylan Thomas.
These formative experiences set the stage for Ma-at's career in writing and community engagement.

His work spans multiple genres, including poetry and anthologies, and his leadership within global writing communities has helped amplify diverse voices.
Ma-at's career began with his co-authorship of *Platonic Eternal Love* (2021), an anthology compiled by Irti Noor. This collection, which explores the theme of eternal love, brought together writers from around the world and marked Ma-at’s entry into the global literary scene.
He is perhaps best known for his co-compilation of *Mothers of the World* (Volumes 1 & 2), alongside Gabriella White. This global anthology features contributions from over 100 poets from more than 30 countries and celebrates the universal experience of motherhood. The anthology received praise for its emotional depth and cultural diversity, and it has been widely acclaimed across literary platforms.
In addition to *Mothers of the World*, Ma-at was the driving force behind the *MOM* anthology project, which included 60 authors from 26 countries. This anthology examined a wide array of themes, reflecting the varied experiences of writers from diverse backgrounds.
