Ankur Singla is an Indian entrepreneur and filmmaker. He co-founded the consumer complaints platform Akosha, which raised funding from Sequoia Capital in 2015 and pivoted the same year to a chat-based personal assistant service called Helpchat.[1][2] The product later relaunched as Tapzo, an all-in-one app that aggregated services across categories such as ride hailing and food delivery.[3][4] In August 2018, Amazon Pay acquired Tapzo in a cash-and-stock deal reported at about 35 to 40 million US dollars.[5][6] Singla made his feature-film debut as writer-director with Ghich Pich in 2025.[7][8]

Early life and education

Singla studied law at the National Law School of India University in Bangalore. After graduating in 2007 he accepted a training contract with Linklaters in London, then left to start his own venture in India.[9]

Akosha and Helpchat

Singla founded Akosha in the early 2010s as a consumer complaints and feedback platform. In May 2015 the company raised Rs 100 crore from Sequoia Capital, and in July 2015 it rebranded to Helpchat and pivoted to a chat-based personal assistant model.[10][11][12]

Tapzo

Helpchat was later relaunched as Tapzo, positioned as an all-in-one app that integrated dozens of third-party services across cabs, food delivery and other day-to-day needs.[13][14] In August 2018 Amazon Pay acquired Tapzo in a transaction reported at approximately 35 to 40 million US dollars.[15][16]

Filmmaking

Singla wrote and directed the Hindi feature film Ghich Pich, which released in August 2025 and received coverage in Indian media.[17][18][19]
