Andrea Mocellin (born 29 December 1984) is an Italian industrial designer, known for his work in inclusive, urban, and sustainable mobility.[1] He is the inventor of the Revolve Air foldable wheelchair and has contributed to international automotive and aerospace projects.[2]

Early life and education

[edit]

Mocellin graduated in Transportation Design from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Turin in 2007,[3] and earned a Master's degree in Vehicle Design from the Royal College of Art in London with the Exo Line project, sponsored by Audi AG.[4]

Career

[edit]

Mocellin began his career as a Creative Designer at Pininfarina and later worked as a Senior Exterior Designer for Alfa Romeo.[5] He was then Chief Designer at Granstudio, contributing to the Senova Offspace concept for BAIC Motor, which was presented at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show and awarded "Best Concept Car China 2016".[5]

From 2018, he worked as Senior Exterior Designer for Nio and as Lead Product Designer for Lilium GmbH, contributing to the Lilium Jet eVTOL aircraft.[6]

In September 2023, TechCrunch profiled Mocellin’s Revolve Air wheelchair during its Kickstarter launch, noting its folding design for air travel and its prior recognition by Time magazine. The article also reported that the crowdfunding campaign did not reach its funding goal.[7]

Since 2023, he has been working as an independent designer based in Munich, collaborating on urban mobility,[8] high-performance vehicles, and aeronautical projects. In June 2025, Vertical Magazine reported that Mocellin had partnered with Horizon Aircraft to work on the Cavorite X7, a seven-seat electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft.[9]
