[edit]

Michos began his career working as a camera assistant on music documentaries, and moved onto work as a news cameraman, learning the art of visual storytelling, before entering the film industry.[3] He met Garrett Brown (Steadicam inventor) through Larry McConkey and alongside McConkey designed Brown's invention, the SkyCam.[4]

Michos became well-known for his cinematography in such features as Man on the Moon, Mona Lisa Smile, and Perfect Stranger.[5] His versatility is evident in a portfolio that spans from the romantic comedy ‘The Kissing Booth’ through to the horror classic ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D' [6]

An avid musical enthusiast, Michos is known to entwine music into the craft of camera movement and once listened to a Director's walkman whilst shooting to film in the style of the music played to him.[7]

In 2022, worked on Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet Of Curiosities. Michos is quoted to have enjoyed working on the project, as "it felt like making a short film rather than a TV show, with each piece a crafted short story rather than a serialization."[8] Michos's work on Cabinet of Curiosities earned him an Emmy Award as well as a nomination from the American Society of Cinematographers. [9] [10]
