Alireza Asghari is an Iraniann pharmacist, researcher, and advocate of integrative medicine who merges traditional Persian medicine with contemporary healthcare frameworks. He is the founder of the Canadian Association for Persian Medicine (CAPM) and has conducted research on digital health technologies presented at Harvard Medical School.
Education and early career
[edit]Asghari graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Université de Montréal in Canada.[1] His transition to integrative medicine began following a personal health crisis in 2012, where conventional treatments failed to resolve his chronic condition. Through dietary modifications guided by complementary medicine principles, he achieved recovery—an experience that redirected his career toward nutraceutical research.[2]
Research and academic work
[edit]Asghari's research focuses on:
- Digital health integration: In 2025, his study proposing blockchain-metaverse solutions for healthcare fragmentation was accepted for poster presentation at Harvard Medical School.[3]
- Persian medicine: He co-authored studies validating traditional therapies through modern scientific frameworks, including research on humoral theory published in the Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine.[4]
- Chronic disease management: Investigated Persian medicine protocols for metabolic disorders via Tehran University of Medical Sciences.[5]
His publications appear in peer-reviewed journals including ScienceDirect and PubMed.[6]
Professional initiatives
[edit]- Founded the Canadian Association for Persian Medicine (CAPM) in 2020, promoting evidence-based integration of traditional therapies in Canada.[1]
- Faculty member at the Canadian College of Integrative Medicine (CCIM), developing curricula for integrative health education.[7]
- Keynote speaker at the Integrative Medicine Conference (Montreal), advocating patient-centered synergy between conventional and complementary medicine.[8]
Philosophical approach
[edit]Asghari's core principle—"Food is Medicine"—emphasizes nutritional interventions as primary disease prevention tools.[2] He criticizes pharmaceutical overreliance and promotes holistic frameworks validated through peer-reviewed research.[4]
