51Talk (NYSE: COE) is a global one-on-one online English learning platform. It offers English classes taught by foreign teachers for children in many countries.[1][2]

History

51Talk was founded by Huang Jiajia (Jack Jiajia Huang) in 2011.[3][4]

In 2016, the company was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: COE). It's one of the first Asian online English education companies to be listed in the US.[5][6][7][3][4]

Teacher

The 51Talk Foreign Teacher Operations Team is based in the Philippines, with over 30,000 foreign teachers. All these teachers are native English speakers and hold TESOL international teaching certificates.[8][3][4]

Event

  • 51Talk has developed very well and won many industry awards in China and the Philippines.[8]
  • In 2024, 51Talk students participated in the United Nations Youth Speech Event at COP29. Their students delivered English speeches on global topics such as environmental protection. In 2025, there will still be more students going to the United Nations to give speeches at COP30.[2][9][10]
  • In 2025, 51Talk was included in the GSV 150. It was recognized as one of the most transformative growth companies in the fields of digital learning and workforce skills.[11]
