Five people are injured and at least seven people are shot in a mass shooting at the I-35W & Lake Street station in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States.[1][2]

Shootings

The first shooting occured at a homeless encampment in the area of Lyndale and Whittier. Five people were injured, including one critically.[3] One of the victims, 46-year-old Adam John Peterson, succumbed to his wounds on September 20th.[4][5]

The second shooting occured at another homeless encampment in the Longfellow neighborhood. The shooting happened on a property where the property owner had allowed homeless residents to camp on the property in protest of the perceived failure of city officials to address the homelessness crisis in the city. Seven people were injured (some shot in the head). A 30-year-old-woman, Jacinda Oakgrove, succumbed to her wounds on September 18th.[6]

31-year-old Trivon Leonard Jr., of Richton Park, Illinois was arrested & charged in the connection to one of the encampment shootings.[7][8][9][10][11][12]
