Értéksziget is a Hungarian medical supply retailer and e-commerce company. It was founded in 2009 and is operated by FKI Nonprofit Ltd.[1][2][3]
History
[edit]Értéksziget was established in December 2009, when the founders created the Institute for Disability Communication Nonprofit Ltd. (FKI Nonprofit Ltd.) on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.[4] Initially, the organization worked on audiovisual accessibility projects and later shifted to distributing medical devices and assistive equipment.
The company launched its first online store in September 2011.[5] During the early years, it was operated from the founders’ home.
In 2016, Értéksziget expanded its product range and moved into dedicated premises in Budapest.[6]
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company introduced same-day delivery in Budapest and expanded its online educational content. In 2021 it adopted a warehouse management system and relaunched its blog as a home care knowledge base. That year it was featured in the M1 television program Esély.[7]
In 2022, Értéksziget became a licensed medical supply store in Hungary.[8] In 2024–2025 it introduced new payment methods, accepted health insurance cards, and added services for electronic prescription redemption.[9]
International coverage of Értéksziget appeared in 2025 in the Spanish press, describing the company as an example of inclusive entrepreneurship.[1][2]
Profile and activities
[edit]Értéksziget sells home care and nursing products with a focus on elderly care and rehabilitation. Its product range includes:

- incontinence products,
- patient lifting and nursing equipment,
- wound care materials,
- mobility aids (canes, walkers, rollators),
- physiotherapy devices and orthoses,
- stoma care products.
The company also publishes online educational content for caregivers.[10]
Értéksziget is a member of the Hungarian trade association Forgalmazók az Egészségért Szövetség (FESZ).[11]
