Cyrus Javadi (born 1977/1978)[1] is an American politician, serving in the Oregon House of Representatives for the 32nd district. Elected as a Republican in 2022 and re-elected in 2024, Javadi left the Republican Party in September 2025 to register as a Democrat.
Career
[edit]After moving to Astoria, he started working at a local dentist's office.[2] Due to the state of the economy, he moved to Texas; however, he moved back to Oregon, settling in Tillamook. He is the Dental Director for the Tillamook County Health Department.[3]
Originally elected as a member of the Republican Party, Javadi switched his party affiliation to the Democratic Party on September 5, 2025, citing blanket anti-tax and anti-free speech attitudes within the state Republican Party that conflicted with his district's needs.[4][5] He was also inspired to switch parties following a Republican-backed bill that would've limited access to books in public school libraries.[6] He subsequently announced that he would run for re-election in 2026 as a Democrat.[5]
Personal life
[edit]Javadi lives in Tillamook, Oregon.[7][8] He is of Iranian descent.[9] He has nine children.[10] One of his sons is gay.[6]
