Cortis (Korean코르티스; stylised in all caps) is a South Korean boy band formed by Big Hit Music. The group consists of five members: James, Juhoon, Martin, Seonghyeon, and Keonho. They debuted on August 18, 2025, with the digital single "What You Want", the lead single of their first extended play (EP) Color Outside the Lines.

Name

[edit]

The name "Cortis" is derived from six letters taken from the phrase "Color Outside the Lines". It symbolizes the band's commitment to thinking freely, unconstrained by the norms and expectations set by society.[2][3]

History

[edit]

2025–present: Debut with Color Outside the Lines

[edit]

Big Hit Music's parent company, Hybe Corporation, first unveiled plans for a new boy band in April 2025, slated to debut in the third quarter of the year.[4] Later in June, an August debut date was announced by Big Hit.[5] The band members and its name, Cortis, were officially announced on July 14 and August 7, respectively.[6][7] Cortis released a music video for their pre-debut track "Go!" on August 11.[8] They marked their official debut with the release of "What You Want" on August 18, serving as the lead single of their upcoming first EP Color Outside the Lines.[9] The EP was later released on September 8, alongside its third single "Fashion".[10]
