Connor James Naismith[2] is a British Labour Party politician who has been Member of Parliament for Crewe and Nantwich since 2024. He identifies as belonging to the more socially conservative Blue Labour faction of the Parliamentary Party.[3]

Career

[edit]

Prior to his election to Parliament, Naismith was a member of Cheshire East Council, representing the Crewe West ward, first being elected in May 2021 and re-elected in 2023.[4]

His local Labour Party website says that prior to his election, he worked in the constituency in "Police complaints", and "served as a school governor at a thriving community nursery school in Crewe".[5]

Parliamentary Career

[edit]

In July 2024, Naismith voted against an amendment to abolish the two-child benefit cap.[6] In September 2025, he called for it to be scrapped.[7]

In September 2024, he voted against an amendment condemning the government's proposed changes to the eligibility criteria for Winter Fuel Payments.[8]

In May 2025, he used the term "Boriswave", which originated on the online far-right, during a debate on immigration in which he advocated for greater "control over legal migration" and the reduction of immigration into Britain.[9][10]

In the 2025 Labour Party deputy leadership election, he supported Lucy Powell.[11]
