Category:Fictional elective mutes

This category is for fictional characters who chose not to speak in spite of having the capacity to do so. This is different from selective mutism, an anxiety disorder in which a person normally cannot speak in specific situations, specific places, or to specific people if triggered. Selective mutism usually co-exists with social anxiety disorder.^[1].
