Castro's Daughter is an upcoming biographical American- Colombian dramatic movie based on the book Memorias de una hija Rebelde by Alina Fernandez. Miguel Bardem directed. It stars James Franco. Other cast member include Mia Maestro, Harding Junior, Maria Cecilia Botero, Alana De la Rosa, Charlotte de Casabianca, Ana Villafañe, and Rafael Ernesto Hernandez. The screenplay is by Nilo Cruz and Jose Rivera.
The movie is slated for release in 2025.
Plot
[edit]The movie tell the history of Alina Fernandez, the illegitimate daughter of Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro Ruz and her hard years living in the shadow of her father.

Production
[edit]Initial production was in early 2007. Actors linked to this production include Daniel Bruhl, Paz Vega, Jordi Molla and Mia Maestro.[2][3] In 2020 the project resurfaced. In 2022 James Franco came on as lead.[4][5]
The film was started to shooting in august 2022 in Bogota , Colombia.[6]
Controversy
[edit]John Leguizamo criticized the casting of James Franco, because he not was Latino.[7]
