Britten as a Boy

Britten as a Boy is a 2025 statue of Benjamin Britten in Lowestoft. It depicts Britten as a child looking to sea. It was sculpted by Ian Rank-Broadley. The statue will be situated at Lord Kitchener's Garden in the Kirkley Cliff area of Lowestoft South.[1]

The campaign to fund the statue began in April 2022.[1] The cost of the statue and its installation was £120,000.[1]

It will be unveiled on 10 October 2025 by English composer John Rutter.[2][1] A newly composed song "What Bliss is Home", with music by Ben Parry and lyrics by Zeb Soanes, will be performed at the unveiling ceremony.[1][2]
