All the Empty Rooms is a 2025 American documentary short film, directed and produced by Joshua Seftel. It follows Steve Hartman and photographer Lou Bopp as they embark across the United States to memorialize the bedrooms of children killed in school shootings.
All the Empty Rooms had its world premiere at the 52nd Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2025. Netflix acquired the documentary short at Telluride, and released it on its streaming service on December 1, 2025.
Premise
[edit]Steve Hartman and photographer Lou Bopp embark across the United States to memorialize the childhood bedrooms of children lost to school shootings.[1]
Release
[edit]It had its world premiere at the 52nd Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2025.[2] It also screened at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2025.[3][4] Prior to, Netflix acquired distribution rights to the film.[5]
The film won the Subject Matter Award at the Hamptons International Film Festival.[6]
