The 2026 Iowa House of Representatives election will be held on November 3, 2026, alongside the Iowa Senate election and the other 2026 United States elections.[1] Voters will elect members of the Iowa House of Representatives in all 100 of the U.S. state of Iowa's legislative districts to serve a two-year term.[2]
Retirements

[edit]- District 7: Mike Sexton retired to accept a federal appointment in the USDA.[3]
- District 11: Brian Best is retiring.[4]
- District 15: Matt Windschitl is retiring to run for US House.[5]
- District 43: Eddie Andrews is retiring to run for governor.[6]
- District 65: Shannon Lundgren is retiring to run for US House.[7]
Democrats
[edit]- District 20: Josh Turek is retiring to run for US Senate.[8]
- District 32: Jennifer Konfrst is retiring to run for US House.[9]
- District 39: Rick Olson is retiring.[10]
- District 71: Lindsay James is retiring to run for US House.[11]
- District 98: Monica Kurth is retiring.[12]
Incumbent Democrat J. D. Scholten was initially running for US Senate against Joni Ernst, but dropped out endorsing fellow State Rep. Josh Turek.[13]
His intentions are unknown as to whether or not he is going to run for his seat again.
Incumbent Republican Robert Henderson is running for re-election.[14]
Incumbent Republican Megan Jones will run for re-election.[15]
The incumbent Republican Mike Sexton resigned his seat to accept a federal appointment.[3][16] Rachel Burns announced her bid for this seat. [17]
Incumbent Brian Best announced in January 2024, that this term would be his last and would not be running for re-election in 2026.[4]
Incumbent Republican Travis Sitzmann is running for re-election.[18]
Incumbent Republican Matt Windschitl is retiring to run for election to Iowa's 4th District in the US House, to replace Randy Feenstra who is running for governor.[5]
Incumbent Josh Turek is retiring to run for US Senate.[8]
Simpson College Associate Dean Spencer Waugh is running for this seat.[19] Incumbent Brooke Boden has not announced her intentions.
Incumbent Democrat Jennifer Konfrst is retiring to run for Iowa's 3rd congressional district in the US House, running against Zach Nunn.[9]
Incumbent Democrat Austin Baeth is running for re-election.[20]
Incumbent Democrat Rick Olson announced his retirement.[10] Former Democrat State Senator Nate Boulton announced he is running for this seat.[10]
Incumbent Republican Eddie Andrews is retiring to run for govenor.[6]
Incumbent Republican Carter Nordman is running for re-election.[21]
Teresa Perin, a Marshalltown Highschool English teacher, is running for this seat as a Democrat.[22] Incumbent Republican Jane Bloomingdale has not announced her intentions.
Speaker Pat Grassley announced he is running for re-election, instead of a gubernatorial bid.[23] Dr. Shawn Ellerbroek, Wartburg College professor of biochemistry, announced his bid for this seat as a Democrat.[24]
India May is running against incumbent Charley Thomson.[25] Thomson has not announced if he is running.
Incumbent Republican Shannon Lundgren is retiring to run for Iowa's 2nd congressional district in the US House.[7]
Central Dewitt Principal George Pickup is running for this house seat as a Democrat.[26] Incumbent Norlin Mommsen has not announced whether or not he is running.
Incumbent Democrat Lindsay James is retiring to run for Iowa's 2nd congressional district.[11]
The incumbent, Democrat Daniel Gosa, has not announced his intentions. Republican Dillon Fillion has announced his candidacy for this seat.[27] House Majority Leader Bobby Kaufmann has endorsed him as well.[27]
Gerald D. Hill, convicted sex offender, is running as a Republican.[28] Incumbent Republican Helena Hayes has not announced whether or not she is running.
Incumbent Democrat Adam Zabner is running for re-election.[29]
Incumbent Democrat Mike Vondran is running for re-election.[30]
The incumbent Democrat Monica Kurth is retiring.[12] Andrew Fitzgerald[31] and Nathan Ramker are both running for this seat.[12][32]
